NEW GP REGISTRARS AND FOUNDATION YEAR DOCTOR – We welcome our new GP Registrar, Dr Ruheela Ashraf and Dr Ciedhra Anwar who are with us part time until November 2017 and August 2018 respectively, and also Dr Preya Rai our FY doctor who is with us until April 2017. All are registered doctors.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS NEW POLICY – In AUGUST 2016 the surgery had 86 missed appointments, ie these patients did not contact the surgery in advance, to cancel/change appointment. The surgery has therefore implemented a new policy whereby if patients repeatedly miss appointments in this way they will be contacted and, if the problem continues, removed from the practice list. Please also always try to give as much notice as possible before cancelling your appointment so we can offer the slot to another patient.
FRIENDS OF RIDGEWAY SURGERY - Our Patient Participation Group (PPG) have been renamed as 'Friends of Ridgeway Surgery'. We are always keen to encourage new members. For more information click on 'Patient Group' under 'Have your say' on the right hand side of this page. We also have a Virtual Patient Group who we email from time to time to discuss survey results etc and we are very keen to get more patients involved in this group. ONLINE SERVICES - you can now view TEST RESULTS online as well as booking appointments, order prescriptions and viewing your medical record- ask at Reception for a form to sign up or complete the Online Access Application form. Please note as this service enables you to see confidential information you will need to collect your login details in person and provide suitable photo ID. CARE QUALITY COMMISSION (CQC) REPORT May 2016 - We are very pleased to have been awarded GOOD in ALL AREAS by The Care Quality Commission following their inspection of the surgery on 17th May 2016. To see our full report click on the tab on the right hand side of our website.
CLINICAL RESEARCH the surgery is pleased to announce that we are now an accredited site for clinical research in conjunction with the National Institute for Health Research. More information can be found here.
ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTION SERVICE AVAILABLE This new service allows the surgery to send your repeat prescriptions to a pharmacy of your choice, electronically. If you prefer however you can still collect the prescriptions from the surgery. To sign up, ask at your pharmacy for a nomination form – this will then be the pharmacy your prescriptions are sent to electronically. The service is secure and confidential. An Advanced Nurse Practitioner can triage, diagnose and treat patients presenting with minor illness and also prescribe medications.
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, ear syringing, travel vaccinations, dressings, removal of stitches, blood pressure checks, health checks and cervical smears . They also perform routine contraception and HRT reviews.
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Assistant Practitioners are further qualified and trained that HCAs. Sarah Worwood is trained to an Assistant Practitioner level and performs many of the duties our nursing team offer.

Administration Assistants - deal with admin duties such as repeat prescription orders and queries and scanning information in to patient notes
Office Manager looks after the daily running of the surgery, runs the reception and admin team and is happy to help patients with their queries
I.T. Manager looks after all the I.T. equipment and supports the Business/Practice Manager and clinical staff with any issues relating to I.T.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They are available to make your appointment to see the Doctor or nurse. They can also give you the results of laboratory tests to the right person depending on your health issue enquiry, make arrangements for a hospital appointment through the Choose and Book system and arrange for transport if required.
The team of midwives will provide care throughout your pregnany and after your baby is is born. Your midwife will plan your antenatal care with you together with your GP and appropriate maternity services.You will be invited to attend antenatal sessions to help you prepare for parenting and to meet other mums-to-be. After your baby is born you will receive midwifery care at home.
District nurses work with your doctor in providing home care as required. Please contact by telephone or leave a message on answering machine.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
